What Does a Thermographic Building Fabric and Building services Inspection Include?
Thermal imaging services
Thermographic cameras, also known as thermal imaging cameras, work by detecting and converting infrared radiation (heat) into an electronic signal, which is then processed to produce a visual image. Unlike traditional cameras that rely on visible light to create an image, thermal imaging cameras can detect and display temperature differences within a scene, even in complete darkness. This makes them ideal for detecting and locating areas of high heat or temperature variations within a building, which can indicate issues such as electrical defects, insulation problems, and water leaks. The camera records the thermal radiation emitted by objects and displays it as a image, where hotter areas appear white or yellow, and colder areas appear black or blue.
Thermographic Building Inspections
Thermographic inspections using thermal imaging can greatly benefit the building inspection process. Independent building inspectors with level 1 thermographer certification can quickly identify a range of building issues that may not be visible to the naked eye, including water ingress, air leakage, missing insulation, and electrical defects. These inspections can provide crucial information to improve the safety and efficiency of the building, and can save time and money compared to traditional inspection methods.
